Take a 10-minute Walk

A brief walk is a great way to decompress, whether it is on your lunch break, before or even after work, or after sitting down for too long. A stroll is a good way to add more exercise to your day and can also help to clear your head.

Drink that Water

The benefits of drinking water is a very long list and can range from increasing your energy to regulating your appetite and improving your digestion. Aim to drink at least the recommended eight glasses a day which is roughly 2 litres.

Exercise for at least 30 Minutes a Day

Working out can help to maintain a healthy weight, lose weight or even lower the risk of certain health conditions, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. This 30 minutes can be a low-intensity walk to a high-intensity circuit training session- just make sure you are intentionally moving for 30 minutes a day.

Go Outside

As the weather is changing into warmer seasons, you should try to get some fresh air at least three times a day and for at least 5-minutes at a time. You’ll be more productive and making healthier options. Read outside, go for the 10-minute walk, do some gardening, just breathe in the fresh air.

Practice Gratitude

Take some time each day to show gratitude and acknowledge the blessings in your life. By building this habit you will be tapping into positive emotions, which have been linked to better health and greater well-being. This is a habit which will make you look at your life with a positive attitude and outlook.

Make Sure You Are Getting Your Zzz’s

If you are not getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep every night, you can start this by going to bed at least 15 minutes earlier every night for a week, and see how you feel, then do it again the next week. Sleep is where our bodies and minds relax and recover, so make sure you are getting those much needed ZZzz’s.

Make Breakfast Count

Always start the day with some fruit and whole grains- like oatmeal, bran flakes and/or whole-wheat toast. You want to break your fast with the right foods that will supply your body with the nutrients and energy that it will need to maintain health and to get through the rest of the day.

Eat One Extra Fruit or Vegetable

Fruits and vegetables taste good and are good for your body, from your brain to your bowels. Make sure you are getting your 5-a-day and then add one more. Vegetables and fruit contain essential vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals. They can also lower the risk of health conditions such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Introduce these small steps into your daily routine and you will see and feel a difference in no time, not only in your physical health but also in your mental health.
